Biography
Joseph cartright Headshot

Growing up on the streets of New York afforded Joseph Cartright a cultural and artistic influence that only a city like New York can offer. Educated in Avionics, Joseph was pulled by the lure and passion of music and art, which led him into the dramatic world of the music business as a Disc Jockey. As a Deejay spinning in the uninhibited days of the late 70s and 80s, he was shaking his groove thing and turntables at the infamous Studio 54, Xenon, Funhouse, and Copacabana. He has produced and engineered many dance classics. Joseph has owned several production/recording studios and presently co-owns the former John Lennon recording studio, Streetlight Studios.

Ironically, after reality and boredom set in, he embarked on an arduous career in technology. To silence the voices in his head and the need for creative release Joseph decided to meld his art, engineering and technology background into photography. Forging these once fundamentally separate disciplines is Joseph's briar patch. His ability to conceptualize and bring to bear ideas, his knack for building technically precise lighting and his decisive production skills are the result of his breadth of experience. He has garnered the respect and command of many top tier clients including Victoria's Secret, Halston, Ralph Lauren and L'Oreal.

Joseph Cartright is a New York City boy.

He is a much sought after speaker on art and technology. His insight on how the rage of technology affects the artist has been an asset to Apple Computer and other technology companies. He has chaired and participated in many focus groups and discussion panels. As a believer that competition is healthy and important for the industry, he makes a strong effort to support his peers. Joseph is as driven, talented and diverse as the city he lives in.
